N.O.W 2019
Not Ordinary Work
TheatreWorks Writers’ Lab presents N.O.W., a three-week public project. From 2019-2021, Noorlinah Mohamed, established actress and arts educator, is appointed N.O.W.'s Artistic Director.
For the next three years, she focuses on celebrating women creators, thinkers, and change-makers, and their approach to making a difference. Led by women and supported by women production, technical and administrative teams, N.O.W. makes visible the multifaceted and capable women, their voices and their not ordinary work.
From performance to film, music to visual arts, workshops to talks, N.O.W. spotlights her process, her thoughts and her creation. Experimental, deliciously weird, and yes, fun, these works explore the conversations women creators and thinkers have with the world – and each other.
Artistic Director
Noorlinah Mohamed
Noorlinah is an award-winning actress of stage, television and film. As an actress, she has worked in Asia, Europe and the US.
She is also a teaching artist, and a consultant in arts pedagogy with a PhD in Arts Education from the University of Warwick.
Noorlinah is a recipient of the JCCI Cultural Award (2008) and the Women's Weekly Women of our Time Award (2005) for her contributions to the arts.
In 2019, she is one of the featured women artists in TheatreWorks 2019 season of Women & Voice.

Women & Voice
TheatreWorks 2019/2020 Season: Women & Voice TheatreWorks’ WOMEN & VOICE Season is Singapore’s first women’s season of theatre. It puts the spotlight on women artists, their artistry and processes. We are concerned with the specificity, duality, and impact of the Woman’s voice.
We ask, what is the Woman’s voice? How is it expressed? TheatreWorks 2019 Season is a platform for these artists to break new grounds, pursue new ideas and effect change.
The four women artists of 2019/2020 season are:

Conceived by Artistic Director Ong Keng Sen in 1990, the Writers' Lab has been pioneering in encouraging and developing Singapore playwriting with its varied as well as far-reaching programmes.
The Writers' Lab aims to provide exceptional first-time and emerging playwrights with opportunities to hone their creative writing skills through an incubating environment. In addition, The Writers' Lab also maintains its R&D profile by affording established writers and Writers' Lab alumni an enhanced environment to advance their new works.

TheatreWorks
TheatreWorks, established in 1985, is an independent and international performance company based in Singapore. It is unique for its reinvention of traditional performances through a contemporary juxtaposition of aesthetics. TheatreWorks has two main red lines in its work: the first is the creation and presentation of inter-disciplinary or intercultural programmes, the second being documentary performances.
TheatreWorks reflects a concern with negotiation, synergy, as well as artistic sharing between individuals and societies. TheatreWorks has consciously created 72-13, a space, to have more diverse and inclusive dialogues. TheatreWorks intends to share the transcendental potential of art through innovative contemporary performances engaging audiences with uncommon alternatives.
